In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)
In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) is a medical procedure in which an egg and sperm are combined outside the body in a laboratory dish. If fertilisation is successful, the resulting embryo is then implanted into the uterus to achieve pregnancy. It is a common fertility treatment for couples struggling with infertility or certain medical conditions.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a medical fertility procedure that involves placing specially prepared sperm directly into a woman's uterus (womb) to enhance the chances of fertilisation. It is typically used as a treatment for couples who are experiencing infertility due to various factors, such as low sperm count, sperm motility issues, cervical mucus problems, or unexplained infertility.
Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy in gynaecology, often referred to as "gynaecological laparoscopy," is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used by gynaecologists to diagnose and treat various conditions and issues within the female reproductive system. During laparoscopy, a thin, flexible tube with a camera and light source (laparoscope) is inserted through small incisions in the abdomen, allowing the surgeon to view the pelvic and abdominal organs on a monitor in real-time.
Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a medical procedure used in gynaecology to examine the inside of a woman's uterus (womb). During a hysteroscopy, a thin, flexible tube with a light and camera on the end, called a hysteroscope, is inserted through the vagina and cervix and into the uterus. This allows the healthcare provider to visualise the uterine lining and the openings of the fallopian tubes.
Egg Freezing
Egg freezing, also known as oocyte cryopreservation, is a medical procedure in gynaecology and reproductive medicine. It involves the extraction, freezing, and storage of a woman's eggs (oocytes) for future use.
Semen Freezing
Semen freezing, also known as sperm cryopreservation, is a medical procedure in which a man's sperm is collected, processed, and stored at very low temperatures, typically in liquid nitrogen. This preservation method allows sperm to be stored for an extended period, often years, while maintaining their viability and fertility potential. Semen freezing is commonly used in cases where a man is facing fertility-threatening factors, such as medical treatments like chemotherapy or radiation therapy, before undergoing vasectomy, or for individuals who wish to preserve their fertility for future use.
Embryo Freezing
Embryo freezing, also called embryo cryopreservation, is a reproductive technology used in assisted reproductive treatments like in vitro fertilisation (IVF). During IVF, multiple eggs are fertilised with sperm to create embryos. In some cases, not all embryos are transferred to the woman's uterus during the same treatment cycle. Instead, some healthy embryos may be frozen for later use.
Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection
Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is an advanced assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedure used in cases of male infertility or when traditional in vitro fertilisation (IVF) may not be effective. During ICSI, a single sperm is meticulously selected and directly injected into the centre (cytoplasm) of a mature egg to facilitate fertilisation. This precise and highly controlled technique increases the chances of successful fertilisation, making it a powerful tool for couples facing fertility challenges. ICSI has revolutionised the treatment of male factor infertility and has brought hope to many couples seeking to build their families through ART.
